The Beginning

This is a copy of the newspaper article I wrote after I received the salon.
"The Good Life

Salon Opened with Helpful Hands

In January my husband started as pastor at Rocky Point Baptist Church. We moved from Wake Forest and I came to the area full time in the last weekend in March. I did hair in Wake Forest and had to start all over a gain building up my customers. It seemed that this was going to be one of my hardest challenges yet. Things were not going that good for me and I was really struggling to get my feet on the ground. Then it happened. One Sunday in July a church member approached me and asked, "Have you ever thought about owning your own salon? My daughter owns a salon and wants to stay home with her baby which is in about one month."
I responded with, "No, not really but I will pray about it." I went home that night and thought to myself, "How could I do this? I have only a few customers and we are making just enough to cover our own expenses."
My husband encouraged me to do it "if" we had the money to buy it, which we did not. And wouldn't you know it, that Wednesday night I received an offer from the daughter to buy the salon. I said to her, "This is an awesome opportunity but there is no way I can do it. I only have a few customers."
Then I would be reminded that nothing is impossible with God. The father responded, "Well she has around one-hundred customers who would probably stay for the convenient location.
Scrambling to collect my thoughts after such an encouraging announcement, I said, "That is great, but I do not have the money to buy all the equipment." I told him I would continue to pray.
Then it happened! I was reminded how big our God truly is. After the service that night someone came up to me and offered to buy the salon on my behalf. Now all my excuses were out of the way and it was as if the Lord was saying, "Is there anything to hard for Me?
I went home and I was overwhelmed and just fell to my knees and praised the Lord with thanksgiving. I was someone who said to God I would never own a salon unless everything was set up just perfectly. And here I was, struggling financially and now I could be walking into an established salon with everything I need including customers and equipment! So I decided to walk through the open door God had laid before me and I purchased the salon. I know God had arranged all the details and he was just waiting for me to say "yes" to this opportunity. after two weeks opening the salon someone came to tell me someone had paid for six months of advertising in this paper!
The Lord has shown me that He can do more than I can ever ask or think and that He can make a way where there is no way. My faith must have increased more in these last few months than ever before. My prayer is that God's name will be glorified through the salon and that through this story someone will be encouraged to believe that the Lord is always at work even when I can't see it and to keep trusting in Him to move mountains if necessary. Thank you to all those who have had a part in opening up Hair Studio 116 and thank you to my Jesus.
